How to set the Alert Status
You can set your alert status in the online dashboard:
- First, sign into your dashboard using your credentials.
- Then, on the left hand side of the screen is the “Alert Status” Button. Click it.
- The button will then reveal two sub menu options: “Set Alert Status” and “Alert Status History”.
- The history simply archives previous statuses so that you can review past activity.
- For this examples, we want to set the alert status, so click ”Set Alert Status.”
- We’re then taken to the main Set Alert Status page. You’ll notice four tabs:
Sample
This is where you can see what a push notification looks like to a user.
Canned
This where you can create Alert Statuses in advance and make it easier to “load” in the event of an emergency.
New
This where you create a new Alert Statuses on the spot.
Current
This is your current (that is, ongoing) alert status.
Let’s first create a canned Alert Status:
- To start, click the “canned” tab.
- Once there, you’ll see a number of fields:

This identifies what Alert Status we’ve already created and saved using this tool.
Canned Alert Status Name
This is the internal name of the Alert Status; the user will NOT see this name.
Title
This is the heading which the user WILL see so name it carefully.
Description
This is the body text of the Alert Status message. This is where you’ll want to put the content of your Status. If the user taps on the Alert Status they will see this text. In your Alert Status text you can insert quite a few things, including map URLs, links to videos, and other important information. Please note that any URLs must be fully qualified; that is, they must have the “http colon forward slash forward slash”.
Date/Time
This displays just the date and time.
Icon
This is the display icon that will be visible to the user.
Border Colour
This will change the colour of the outline of the Alert Status.
Text Colour
This will change the colour of the text of the Alert Status.
Background Colour
This will change the background colour of the Alert Status. Note, all of these colours are HEX codes so they’re easy to manipulate.
Border Radius and Width
These control the size of the outline of Alert Status. If you want an alert status with rounded corners, set the border radius to 5 pixels and the width to 2. If you would like square corners, set each to 0. However, you can manipulate the corners of the button as you see fit.
Once you have the all the fields complete, it’s time to set the canned Alert Status.
- Do that by clicking the save button.
- You’ve now saved the Alert Status and can access it later in the Canned Alert Status Drop down list.
- Let’s finish this process off by sending this saved Alert Status.
To set the Alert Status, we first need to load it:
- Do this by clicking the “load” button.
- Your Alert Status is now automatically loaded and you’ve been moved to the “New” tab.
- Press the “Save” to set your Alert Status.
- And voila, you’ve set your Alert Status!
NOTE: you don’t always have to create a “canned Alert Status” to set an Alert Status. You can simply go to the “New” tab and set the Alert Status at any time.
