Notification Templates

The Notification Templates section allows you to create, edit and organize your CAP message templates.  They are organized by CAP category.

New templates can be added using the “Add New Template” button.  You’ll be promoted to enter the CAP message values.  You can add variable placeholders by surrounding them in square brackets E.g.: [Variable Name].  When the user attempts to send a message containing variable placeholders, they’ll be required to enter values for those placeholders before sending the message.

You can search for and edit existing CAP templates using the toolbar interface.  Existing templates can be “Cloned”.  This makes a copy of the template, and prepends the words “Clone of” before the new template name.  Adjust cloned templates accordingly.

Best Practices for Building Templates

  1. Create and Edit Templates. Watch the Templates video for a good introduction to how Templates work, how to create and edit Templates, including how to properly format the templates using variables. Also, we've preloaded your Dashboard with some default templates to get you started. These are yours to use, change, or delete as desired.

  2. Test your Templates. As you edit your Templates, you'll want to test them by sending a Test Notification. You should set up a test Sending Profile (your AppArmor support, so you can send yourself messages (watch the Sending a Notification video), and make sure they're behaving as desired. I would strongly recommend testing all of your Templates as they're built.
