Deactivating Notifications
After you send a Notification, it will generally remain “Active” for a certain amount of time. When the notification is no longer relevant, you can “deactivate” the notification. Deactivating a notification will have a few different effects:
The notification will cease to be displayed on any “persistent” Alerting Mechanisms, such as your AppArmor Safety App’s Alert Status, Website Widgets, and RSS Feeds.
Users who navigate to the Source of Truth page for a deactivated alert will see a notice informing them it’s a deactivated alert:
Any HTTP Activation subscribers with Deactivation URLs configured will be sent a CAP Payload with the <msgType> field set to Cancel, as per the CAP Standard.
How to Deactivate
There are 2 options for Deactivation. Note that if you use Event-based sending, deactivation refers to an entire Event, and never a single notification.
Automatic Deactivation
Automatic deactivation can be set to occur after a certain amount of time. You can set this time at the time of sending a notification with the Advanced Sending Interface page.
In addition, you can modify the auto-deactivation time for an event in the Event Details page:
Manual Deactivation
You can manually deactivate an event from a number of different places in the Dashboard. All of these options have the same effect.
