The Map Builder tool allows you to create interactive maps with custom pinned locations. Use the tools on the right side of the interface to create a new map and add the pinned location with titles and descriptions. You can also edit existing maps, delete maps, and download KML files of the map pins.

Maps play an important role in just about any AppArmor custom branded app. The maps provide not only an Apple or Google map of the campus, but they are also “pinned” to identify points of interest or importance on those campuses. The Map Builder is a tool in your online dashboard where you can create and pin maps as you see fit. You can then take those maps and integrate them into your app in real time, using the Designer.
How To Use the Map Builder
...
Build a Map
First sign into your dashboard using your credentials.
Then, on the left hand side of the screen is the “Map Builder” tab. Click it.
You will then be taken to the Map Builder page and to the “manage” tab.
Here you can either decided to create a new map or import a map from a .KML file.
In this example, we’re going to build a map, so let’s start by giving it a name. Please note that all maps must have unique names or they will overwrite their predecessor of the same name.
After we’ve typed our name, click “create”. A new tab will be created called “Edit – YOUR MAP NAME”. This is where we centre your map and populate it with pins.
At first you’re zoomed far out, so zoom in on your desired area. Note, that the level you determine will be the same vantage point that a user will have, in-app.
Now that we have the map centred, let’s place some pins.
Placing Pins on the Map
First, click a location on the map where you’d like to set a pin.
Then, give the pin a name and description.
Finally, click save.
Repeat as necessary!
...
Add the Map to your App
Copy the information under “Map Information” into a secondary program, such as notepad. We’ll need it when we make a new map in the designer. Please note that in the future, the dashboard will be able to send this information directly to the designer.
Once in the designer, and after we’ve manipulated our app so that the map is in the correct menu, copy in all the information in notepad in the appropriate field. Don’t worry, all the labels in the map builder are the same in the designer
Once that’s complete, click save properties, and then publish.
Voila! Your new map is up and running.
